The friendship and political alliance between President Donald Trump and Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene was a prominent feature of American politics for a long time. Greene demonstrated unwavering loyalty to Trump, even incorporating his reelection rhetoric into several of her speeches during Joe Biden’s 2024 presidential campaign. Trump, in turn, appreciated and defended her aggressive confrontations in the House of Representatives, inviting her to various events and campaigning on her behalf. Now, however, that chapter appears to be in the past.
It all began with President Trump’s international policies, which, according to Marjorie Taylor Greene, represent a complete departure from the core promises of his campaign. He repeatedly emphasized putting the United States first and focusing on domestic issues rather than global ones. Although Trump initially appeared committed to this approach, Greene claims that, over time, he drifted away from his original objective. The militarization of the Caribbean Sea, the billions of dollars in aid to Argentina, and the controversy surrounding the Epstein files are among the reasons she has reversed her stance on the very figure she defended tooth and nail less than a year ago.
For Trump, these criticisms amount to a betrayal. He argues that Greene no longer deserves his unconditional support because, in his view, she has adopted positions that ultimately benefit the Democratic Party more than the Republican Party. In recent statements, he confirmed that he will no longer support the Georgia congresswoman’s political career. Although public comments continue to escalate on both sides, for now we can only wait and see whether this relationship becomes yet another in President Donald Trump’s long history of alliances that begin with love and admiration and end in resentment and repudiation.
